A Computing degree equips you with the knowledge and practical skills required to design and develop innovative tech-based solutions to complex information and real problems faced by businesses, the community and global industries.
Are you interested in how artificial intelligence, data analytics, the internet of things, virtual reality and robotics are changing our world? Our two-year undergraduate degrees and masters programmes will equip you with the skills and competencies needed to design and develop data-driven computing solutions.
Learn on the latest state-of-the-art AI, robotics and immersive technology equipment, including a Boston Dynamics Spot (a robotic dog) and a Birdly.
There are also a variety of postgraduate research programmes available. Our current areas of specialism include (but are not limited to): personal identification, cybersecurity, and image analysis.

Our state-of-the-art computing suites are equipped with world leading technologies, including Spot by Boston Dynamics, and Birdly by Somniacs. Part-funded by a Local Growth Fund grant from the 勛圖厙shire Local Enterprise Partnership (BLEP), we are investing 瞿3.2 million into Computing, AI, Robotics, Cyber security and Immersive Technologies so you can experience, train and develop alongside the latest tech.

Meet our lecturers
Professor Harin Sellahewa, Dean of Faculty of Computing, Law and Psychology
Harins research interests are Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning. He has co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed journal/conference papers and a book chapter. He is the module lead for Image Processing, Software Project Management, and Software Engineering and supervises PhD projects.
Dr Naseer Al-Jawad, Senior Lecturer in Computing
Dr Al-Jawad teaches different courses like Fundamentals of Computing, Multimedia Systems, Networking, Web Technologies, and Programming at different levels. He also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
Dr Maysson Ibrahim, Senior Lecturer in Computing
Maysson holds a PhD in Bioinformatics and BEng in Software Engineering and Information Systems. She is the module lead for the Data Exploration and Visualisation, and Systems and Tools for Data Science in the MSc Applied Data Science programme.
Professor Hongbo Du, Professor of Computing
Hongbos primary areas of research are in Big Data Processing, Data Mining and Machine Learning, and Image and Time Series Analysis. He is broadly interested in applying machine learning methods and techniques to solve practical problems.

Demand for workers with specialist computing skills, like data scientists, has more than tripled in the UK over the past five years. By enabling students to specialise in the second year of their undergraduate degree, they gain the specific skills needed to progress into careers in AI and robotics, cybersecurity or computer games and immersive applications development.
